Eleanor Roosevelt once said: The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Hearing this phrase, we have to think what kind of future do we dream about here in Latvia and the Baltics in general. What future do we want to see together with Europe?

The Latvian Institute of International Affairs will host the 1st Networking Conference and Review Workshop of the Project "Strengthening and Energizing EU-Central Asia Relations". It will take place in Rīga, Latvia, 17 - 19 April 2018.

The fact that the centenary of our state can be expected in safety is a huge achievement - a result of the great and common patriotic work. Latvia's membership in the European Union is the right choice and it has to remain like that. Celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Latvia and the Baltic States are also celebrations of the whole Europe.

Dear friends, on behalf of LIIA and all our partners, I have a great pleasure and honour to invite you all to take part to the public discussion on Latvia’s role in European Union: about the EU's challenges and its future. The event will be held in the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia on March 23.

The debate on strengthening the European Economic and Monetary Union is part of a much broader debate on the future of the European Union, launched by the European Commission last March when it published the White Paper.

LIIA together with partners is organizing a high-level international conference “Baltic EU Conversations 2018: Is Europe Back?” The conference will take place in Riga at the Saeima, (Jēkaba Street 6/8) on 23 March 2018, from 09:00 until 18:00.

On 20 March 2018, the Latvian Institute of International Affairs, in cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, organised a closed lunch discussion “Baltic perspectives on EU challenges 2018: the Russian presidential elections”. The discussion gathered a group of 22 experts form governmental, non-governmental and academic institutions, in order to discuss the outcomes of the Russian presidential election of 18 March 2018. The key questions during the discussion revolved around the future of the EU-Russian relations in economic, political and military terms.
